Police are increasing patrols on Route 17A in Orange County in an effort to stop dangerous driving.
Sergeant Pat Welsch says he busted two 17 year olds a couple of weeks ago driving more than 100 mph on Route 17A. Police in Tuxedo, Greenwood Lake and Warwick have seen an increase in reckless drivers on that stretch of road and they are determined to make a change. Tuxedo police set up a speed checkpoint on the road to remind drivers to slow down Thursday. Local police plan to have DWI and speeding checkpoints set up throughout the New Year?s holiday.
Police say more than 400 summonses have been issued and 40 arrests have been made in December for traffic violations.
