Greenburgh cop in dominatrix scandal defends self on stand
The Greenburgh cop in a dominatrix sex case took the stand Monday in his own defense.
Officer Erik Ward is charged with official misconduct for allegedly engaging in a sex act with dominatrix Gina Pane. Pane testified earlier that Ward told her he would get her marijuana charges dropped if she would engage in a kinky sex act.
However, Ward told the court he met Pane because he was trying to use her as an informant. According to the cop, Pane told him many of her clients use and sell drugs. Prosecutors got Ward to admit that he did not follow procedure when he met the dominatrix without informing his superiors. Ward was also questioned about whether he visited Pane?s Web site on his home computer and why that computer is missing. The cop replied the computer broke and he threw it out because he was going to buy a new one.
The judge is expected to make a decision next week in the three-day, non-jury trial. Ward is suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal trial, which came to a close Monday.
