Accused helping hubby indicted in wife's Bear Mountain plunge

Posted: Updated:

The Staten Island man accused of helping his wife commit suicide at Bear Mountain has now been indicted by a grand jury. Victor Han was indicted Thursday in Stony Point Justice Court on charges including promoting a suicide attempt and endangering the welfare of children. Han's wife Hejin died in June when the couple's minivan plunged off a cliff. Their two daughters were in the backseat of the minivan, but survived.Han's attorney says he is disappointed, but not surprised. Investigators say Victor Han exited his family's vehicle before the crash, allowing his wife to drive it off a 300-foot cliff. He has contended he got out of the van to take a picture and he had no idea of his wife's intentions. Prosecutors say he knew that his wife was suicidal. After his arrest, Victor Han was held for psychiatric evaluation. The case will now move to Rockland County Court. Han is expected to be arraigned on the charges within the next few weeks.
