Cops in West Nyack hunt 'black box' bank robber
Clarkstown police are on the hunt for a man they say robbed a bank in West Nyack just after it opened Tuesday.
According to police, the suspect walked up to the counter at the Bank of New York and handed a teller a note demanding money. Police say the note stated the man had a gun. They say the robber was carrying a black box that could have been holding a weapon, but a gun was never shown to the teller. Police say the suspect then demanded the note back and left the bank on foot.
Police believe the suspect hopped into a car after the robbery. They say there was a similar bank robbery in Nanuet in August, where the suspect also demanded the note back. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clarkstown police at 845-639-5840.
