Orange County schools tackle security issues amid school shootings

Posted: Updated:

Schools in Orange County are taking a closer look at security issues in light of recent school shootings across the country.

Warwick School Superintendent Dr. Frank Greenhall says security preparations are an ongoing task. He says all doors are locked except two entrances that are both manned. Greenhall says both the middle and high school have resource officers whose priorities are to keep students safe. He says most schools have looked at the effectiveness of their security in keeping intruders out.

Greenhall also points out that if violence was ever to erupt at an Orange County school, the Sheriff?s Department would immediately dispatch a team of specially trained officers. Orange County's Emergency Service Unit also trains all year round preparing for hostage situations.
