West Point cadet found guilty of rape

A West Point cadet was found guilty of rape and attempted rape involving two former female cadets at a court-martial Thursday.
Lonnie Story, 22, was found guilty of rape for an incident in October of 2005 and attempted rape for an incident of January of 2005. Story was sentenced to eight years in prison and has been dismissed from the military academy and the Army. The five-person panel needed only four votes to convict Story. They also were considering the lesser charge of indecent assault.
A lawyer for the government says Story has ?tarnished the institution.? Story?s attorney says he will appeal the verdict. However, that action will go through the Army Court of Appeals, which is backlogged and short-staffed.
