Tappan Zee Bridge replacement will change route for Rockland County commuters
The Metro-North president met with members of the Rockland Business Association Thursday to discuss six possible options for the replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge.
With deterioration of the bridge comes concern from the Rockland County commuters who use the bridge in their daily commute. During the meeting, Metro-North President Peter Cannito discussed options, including the possibility of a commuter rail on the bridge. He says with rising gas prices the demand for a mass transit rises.
Although Cannito would not disclose which option he prefers, he did say stations would need to be added in Rockland County if a commuter rail is installed. Those stations could include the Palisades Center Mall and the Garden State Parkway.
