Domestic violence not new at home of murdered New Windsor cop
Police say an off-duty NYPD detective who was murdered Friday had experienced abuse at the hands of her husband before.
Griselda Espinal, 38, was stabbed, shot and killed by her husband Friday ? but that wasn?t the first time he had tried to hurt the mother of three. In February 2005, police say she called to ask for assistance after her intoxicated husband threw a block of knives at her. At the time Espinal was uninjured and expressed concerns that her husband might hurt himself.
Francisco Espinal eventually did, but not before stabbing, shooting and killing his estranged wife in front of their three children last week. Police say he went to the house to get his wife to sign legal papers and flew into a rage when she refused to do so. He killed her before committing suicide in front of his children.
