Orange County business owner suffers double blow
An Orange County business owner suffered a double dose of bad luck Monday. Marc Drury, the owner of Maddy?s Diner in Middletown, watched his restaurant burn to the ground. Then he discovered the $10,000 he was able to rescue from the fire was stolen from his catering van. He says the robbery on top of the fire will leave a lasting emotional scar. Police are investigating the robbery and no arrests have been made. Eyewitnesses say they saw three teens lurking near the van and their behavior seemed suspicious. Fire officials believe a spark from the diner?s neon sign may have started the fire. Drury was barbecuing outside when he saw the smoke. He says he ran inside to tell the patrons and the staff to leave because the building was on fire. Luckily no one was hurt.
