Newburgh park turns on the water to keep residents coolPosted: Updated:
With temperatures on the rise for the third day in a row, towns and cities in Hudson Valley were doing everything to help keep residents cool.
Delano-Hitch Park in Newburgh was a popular place Tuesday after fire hydrants were turned on for all to enjoy. Some communities joined Newburgh and created cooling centers for those without air conditioning. Also, pool hours were extended to help residents cope with the sizzling heat. Many pools saw the amount of people usually reserved for weekends.
Newburgh and other communities will continue to run the cooling centers and offer other modes of refreshment as long as needed.
