Golf fans flock to Mamaroneck to watch pros practice
The U.S. Open doesn?t start until June 15, but that didn?t stop golf fans from descending on the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck Tuesday to get a glimpse of the pros practicing.
The tournament has been sold out since last year, however, people are still getting tickets through scalpers for a pretty penny. The prices range from $100 for a one-day ground pass to $11,000 for a weeklong VIP ticket. Thousands of people paid good money just to watch their favorites practice. Many stood on long lines to buy U.S. Open merchandise.
Club officials expect the crowds to grow every day with players like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson being a big draw.
