Posted: Updated:

Students and faculty had to be evacuated from Washingtonville High School Friday after a suspicious substance was found in a boy's bathroom.

Hazmat teams were quickly called to the school on Main Street. Officials say an unknown liquid substance was found on the second floor. The chemical was first thought to be chlorine. Hazmat crews went to each floor to see if there was more of the substance.

Classes were canceled for the day. Washingtonville police are investigating and say they believe students were responsible for incident.
