Nyack murder suspect in drug exchange captured in North Carolina

Posted: Updated:

? The suspect in a fatal shooting during a drug exchange in Nyack was captured in North Carolina Friday.

Police say the victim, 18-year-old David Firestone of New Jersey, rode to Nyack Monday with a friend. Authorities believe the men met up with 20-year-old Khalfani Sorel for a drug deal or exchange. The meeting ended when Sorel allegedly shot to death Firestone and fled. Interviews led Clarkstown police to look for Sorel in North Carolina where he was picked up by local authorities Friday. At an extradition hearing, Sorel was ordered back to Rockland County.

Local authorities also hope to arraign Sorel Friday on murder charges.
