Judge orders controversial Nyack porn shop to close

Posted: Updated:

A controversial porn shop was forced to shut down in Nyack after an ongoing fight within the Rockland community. One group was so upset about the effects an adult store would have in the village, they took the owners of Fama DVD and Video Center to court. The petitioners argued the Nyack Planning Board did not consider the effects on the community when it first approved the store and a Supreme Court judge agreed. The judge's decision says the owner isn't authorized to do business in New York State and the planning board did not use the proper procedure. If the owners want to do business in Nyack, they will have to go before the planning board again.
