RYE BROOK -

Top law enforcers and business owners in Westchester met Tuesday night to promote the sharing of information between both groups.

Sponsored by the Business Council of Westchester, the gathering was dubbed the "Law Enforcement Business Community Partnership Forum" and featured six panelists with both local and national law enforcement expertise.

"It's important for business owners, having a camera," says White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong. "If they're not there and somebody breaks in, it's important that we make an arrest to prove we are serious about what we are doing."

Officials say they also realize that many business owners are homeowners with shared concerns.

"As a business owner, one of the first things you look at as a homeowner or where you open up your business is crime," says Mount Vernon Police Commissioner Shawn Harris.
