Orange County teen faces multiple drug, weapon charges

A teenager in Orange County is in police custody, facing multiple drug and weapon charges.
Syed Abdul-Khabir, 17, was picked up Tuesday morning at a home on Parmenter Street in Newburgh by members of a newly-formed "Non-fatal Shooting Task Force."
A felony warrant was issued back in November for the teen's arrest who, according to authorities, had previously been found with drugs.
Officials conducted a search of that home. News 12 was told that they found more than 230 envelopes of what is believed to be heroin. They also found a revolver, which was reported stolen in Pennsylvania in 2007.
Abdul-Khabir is also accused of a Feb. 2 shooting in Newburgh, where a taxi driver in a parked cab was hit by a bullet on Broadway.
He is facing charges that include criminal use of a firearm, possession of a weapon and possession of stolen property.
City officials say he was arraigned Tuesday and remains in police custody. He is due back in court on Friday.
