Westchester DA warns residents to lock cars after rash of break-ins

The Westchester County district attorney is warning residents to lock their vehicles after a rash of car break-ins.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino says there have been a large number of burglaries and thefts all over the county so far this year.
At Westchester Auto Repair in Yonkers, managers say they see a lot of customers who have had their cars broken into near the Greystone train station.
Scarpino says the best advice is to lock your car, no matter where you live.
Law enforcement officials say residents are also sometimes leaving their keys in the vehicle. They say an opportunistic thief will take the car somewhere else and sell it as a whole or for the parts.
Scarpino says last year there were more than 700 car thefts in Westchester County. He says so far this year, there have been 170.
