Police investigate 5 shootings in Paterson over weekend

Police in Paterson say they are investigating a rash of shootings over the weekend.
They say five people were shot, one of them fatally.
In one incident, police say a 15- and 18-year-old were shot near the intersection of Governor and Carroll streets on Saturday night.
Early Saturday morning, Paterson police responded to fatal shooting. They say 27-year old Vishon Randolph was fatally shot near Straight and Montgomery streets.   They say another man was also hit and injured during that shooting.
Around the same time as the fatal shooting, police were called to the intersection of 23rd and 12th avenues  where a woman was shot in the leg. In that case, the city's gunfire detection system was activated alerting police to the scene.
Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale released a statement Sunday, saying, "while we have seen an uptick in violence, we will tirelessly focus on those responsible and deliver swift and decisive justice…The men and women of Paterson's finest work tirelessly to make a safer city for residents in the face of danger."
The two teenaged boys and the 27-year-old woman are expected to survive their gunshot wounds.
There is no word on suspects, arrests or whether any of the shootings are related.
