Authorities raid Spring Valley Village Hall for 2nd time in 2 monthsPosted: Updated:
Authorities were spotted raiding Spring Valley Village Hall on Tuesday, the second raid in two months.
The raid comes while the village's mayor is currently in the middle of impeachment proceedings.
Officials spent hours combing through records there but remained tight-lipped about why.
Investigators were seen carrying out boxes of evidence, in what the FBI says is an ongoing law enforcement matter in the embattled village.
"It's nothing to do with me. Period. If you report that - you give fake news," said Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme.
The village has a long history of legal issues dating back to 2013 when agents were there as part of what became known as the "Corridor of Corruption," indicting former Mayor Noramie Jasmin and Deputy Mayor Joseph Desmaret.
Spring Valley Police Chief Paul Modica hinted at what and who the current situation is about.
"Every once in a while, the lion needs to remind the jackals of who he is, and I think we're seeing that right now," he says.
