“Hamilton” star inspires Newburgh students

Posted: Updated:

A Broadway star has come home to Orange County to talk to high school drama students.

Lexi Lawson of "Hamilton" visited with kids at Newburgh Free Academy Monday for a special question-and-answer session at her alma mater.

Lawson, who plays Eliza Hamilton in the award winning musical, says it is important to give back and help kids realize that their goals and dreams can be achieved. "I think it's really important to share your story with kids so they can stay inspired and know it's possible and that being on Broadway or a recording artist is all possible."

Lawson graduated from NFA in 2002.
