Testimony continues for suspended Clarkstown police chief

Suspended Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan resumed his testimony Friday in Rockland County, seeking to defend himself against allegations of misconduct and illegal surveillance.
He is also facing nearly two dozen disciplinary charges.
Sullivan's defense had hoped the case would be thrown out over allegations of the town supervisor having his own staffer spying on the proceedings. This accusation was denied by town officials and was addressed privately before a court. The town's recording equipment, which is regularly used for meetings, was then disabled.
A special prosecutor for the town is questioning Sullivan on multiple emails between him and two other former members of the police department.
"It's a waste of everyone's time and money," says Steve Weissblatt, of Clarkstown. "They're dragging the chief through the mud for political purposes as everybody knows and it's evident that's the case."
Sullivan is also running for town supervisor.
