Drivers using the Bronx River Parkway experienced heavy delays this morning after a tractor was demolished after hitting an overpass.
Police say the tractor-trailer was traveling illegally on the southbound side when it hit an overpass between exits 11E and 11W near the Cross County Parkway around 3 a.m. One witness tell News 12 the trailer was "obliterated" and was the worst accident of its kind that he has ever seen.
One lane was closed until around 11 a.m. as crews off-loaded stoves and other appliances from the trailer.
The driver is reportedly OK, but is expected to be charged with driving illegally on the parkway.
