Rockland to open LGBT center in Nyack

Rockland County will soon open an LGBT pride center in Nyack, local and state officials announced Wednesday.
Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul also pledged financial backing from Albany for the project.
"That's from the governor and the taxpayers, from the state of New York," Hochul said. "We will also stand with you, [the LGBT community]."
The center will open on South Franklin Street in a former Elks Lodge, after renovations.
"There are many minority groups living and thriving in this community, and I'm happy to say I support as many of them as I can," says Nyack resident and comedian Rosie O'Donnell, who was present for the announcement. "And I hope that everyone here does the same."
