Pamphlets with messages of hate were found on cars Saturday on the same day as a LGBT pride event in White Plains.
After Saturday's event, dozens of people walked back to their cars to find envelopes waiting for them. The envelopes had the words "just for you" written on the front with smiley faces.
Judy Troilo, executive director at the Loft in White Plains, says the card said the AIDS virus and evil was streaming through their blood and that they would be going to hell if they don't repent.
Troilo says a similar message was sent to her directly back in October. That's when the center installed security cameras inside the building. Her goal is to make sure that the LGBT community feels safe, no matter what.
"We will do everything in our power, even if it means we have to move our building, we will do whatever it takes to protect our community,” says Troilo.
A police report has been filed and Troilo is confident she knows the people responsible. She says she does worry that the progress made by the LGBT community could be in jeopardy.
"We've come so far, yet over the last year we've seen a lot of pedaling backwards. Not only are we continuing to fight for rights we've yet to obtain, we're now fighting to maintain rights we've achieved in the last couple years,” she says.
