DOBBS FERRY - Emergency crews were at the scene of a gas leak in Dobbs Ferry Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to a report of a gas odor throughout apartments located above a restaurant at 63 Main St.
When they arrived, crews found that a burner had been left on all night in the downstairs restaurant.
It was ventilated and fire officials say readings of gas in the upstairs units were low.
No injuries were reported. A 97-year-old woman was checked out by EMS, but refused medical attention.
"If we had higher readings upstairs, any spark or anything, it could have ended up a lot worse than this," say Dobbs Ferry Fire Chief Chris Denike.
Fire officials recommend that residents always make sure to turn gas stoves all the way off to avoid fires and health risks.
