‘Cargo of Concern’ embarks on journey to Washington D.C.

CROTON -

A sailboat with special cargo is on its way from Croton to Washington, D.C. with the aim of delivering a message to Congress about keeping the waterways clean.

The cargo includes petitions, municipal resolutions and messages of support made by those who attended Saturday’s Clearwater Festival at Croton Point Park.

Organizers tell News 12 the “Cargo of Concern” will travel to our nation’s capital to show that pollution has no boundaries.

They say they hope those in power will stand up for strong federal clean water protections, which he says have been threatened this year by proposed rollbacks and budget cuts.

The cargo, which is onboard the Sloop Clearwater, is expected to reach Washington D.C. by the end of the month.
