YONKERS -

Police expect to make an arrest following a report of gunshots near a Yonkers playground.

Authorities say a 29-year old Yonkers man was standing with two friends in front of the grocery store when another man walked up and began to argue with the three men. Investigators say the dispute escalated and that the suspect took out a handgun and fired one shot in the direction of the 29-year-old. Sources tell News 12 that the suspect ran toward South Broadway after firing the gun. No injuries were reported.

Police tell News 12 that it was not a random act. Yonkers police say they have surveillance cameras in the neighborhood and are looking at the video. They were able to recover a shell casing near the entrance of the playground.

Police claim they have identified the suspect and expect to make an arrest soon

Neighbors say the violence is troubling because there were children nearby enjoying the nice weather at the playground.
