Mount Vernon hosts career fair

More than a dozen people are expected to walk away with new jobs today at a career fair in Mount Vernon.
Veterans and people from the neighborhood flocked to the Westchester Community Opportunity Program on East First Street.
Organizers say they've been holding monthly job fairs for 12 years. They estimate 10 to 15 people get hired every month, which helps bring money into the community. "Our goal is to get people to become self-sufficient. We have a lot of people who are unemployed and underemployed," says Mount Vernon Community Action’s Hazel Alexander-Campbell.
She says some clients have grown with the company and have gotten promotions. Clients are also given resume writing and interview tips.
