Monsey baby dies from car crash injuriesPosted: Updated:
Hundreds of people gathered Wednesday to mourn the loss of a 3-month-old boy who died after being hit by a car in Monsey last week.
Yosef Meir Braun's mother was walking with her three kids when Albert Gomez slammed into them along the shoulder of Route 59.
Yosef died early Wednesday morning at Westchester Medical Center. His mother and one of his siblings are still in the hospital, says Yossi Gestetner, of Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs.
His mother left the hospital via ambulance during the funeral so she could say goodbye to her son.
Gomez, the 62-year-old driver from Spring Valley, was arrested on two felony counts of second-degree assault and multiple misdemeanors.
However, News 12 has been told that the district attorney is looking into upgrading the charges against Gomez to manslaughter.
