PLEASANTVILLE -

The staff at a Pleasantville gastropub is hoping to raise money in support of a local musician.

The Schwartz Aid event was held Sunday at Lucy's to help Gary Schwartz pay his medical bills.

Last month, the Putnam Valley musician and music teacher was driving home from a show in Delaware when he was T-boned by an alleged drunken driver.

The crash left Schwartz with a broken wrist and fractured vertabrae in his neck. He has already undergone one surgery and will have many more along with months of physical therapy.

Eric Mason, the general manager at Lucy's also started a GoFundMe page for donations.

"This is the perfect sort of scenario where you can do something today thats going to help and impact a person's life today," he says.

The goal is to raise more than $5,000 over the next six months.

"It's really more about being able to sustain Gary's passion and let him continue giving to this community," Mason says.

Schwartz is expected to attend the fundraiser at Lucy's, which ends at 9 p.m.
