Mural inspires kids to live their dreams

MOUNT VERNON -

A mural in Mount Vernon is now inspiring kids to live their dreams.

Whether the dreams are to be a teacher or a cardiologist, the “Big Me” mural project on the corner of South Fourth Avenue and Second Street is motivating students to put a focus on their future.

Sean Flanagan, an art teacher at Amani Public Charter School, created the mural and he depicts students from the school who have big career goals.

Mayor Richard Thomas implemented this community-based initiative to highlight the dreams and aspirations of students and hopes the artwork will serve as a reminder to anyone walking the streets that working hard will pay off.
