SPRING VALLEY -

A Spring Valley man has been charged with attempted murder after authorities say he stabbed a police officer on Wednesday.

Police say Artemio Gonzalez, 37, was throwing pots and pans at them when they responded to reports of a man "going crazy" on Prospect Street.

Officials say Gonzalez threw a stovetop at a responding officer before grabbing a knife and stabbing him once in the torso.

Another officer was also hurt in the struggle.

Gonzalez was eventually subdued by a Taser. He and the two officers were treated at a hospital and released.

Gonzalez is being held without bail in the county jail. He is due back in court on Friday.
