Officials say four horses were found starved to death and trapped inside an Orange County barn.
Authorities made the discovery last weekend at Argus Farms on Gate Schoolhouse Road in Goshen after neighbors reportedly noticed the animals had gone missing.
Authorities confirm the deceased horses were found last Saturday after a search warrant was issued.
They say the horses, including one that was reportedly pregnant, were trapped, starved and had been gnawing on pressure-treated wood in their stalls before they died.
Town and SPCA officials say the horses’ deaths are under investigation and that charges are expected to be filed.
Several other horses remain on the farm.
There is no word on when charges are expected to be filed.
