Mount Vernon residents sick of road work

MOUNT VERNON -

Residents in one Mount Vernon neighborhood say they are fed up over ongoing work on their street that has been causing disruptions for months.

Since April, Con Edison has been working on a section of Esplanade Street to install a gas line.

Neighbors say they are sick of the noise and repeated road closures. At least one resident has not been able to get their car out of their driveway for months because there are trucks blocking them.

Mount Vernon Commissioner of Public Works Joseph Nigro says he is on site every day to make sure that progress is being made on the street. However, residents say the work is taking too long.

Con Edison said residents should expect about another month of work.
