YONKERS -

Yonkers families are gearing up for another school year.

Hundreds attended a back-to-school festival and health fair at the Philips Manor Hall in Yonkers this weekend.

Several organizations came together to give away free backpacks, food, music, and offer activities for the kids. Affinity Health Plan also offered health and dental screenings.

Organizers say they handed out 800 backpacks. "It helps me considering I don't have to buy as many school supplies; considering we have three kids now going to school. It's a very difficult situation, rent is high, everything is going up, so it’s a difficult living situations," says Nashira Gonzalez, of Yonkers.
