News 12 follows relief efforts in Texas

HOUSTON -

First-responders from the Hudson Valley, and all around the Tri-State area,  are volunteering in Texas in an effort to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

News 12’s Andrew Ehinger is in Houston where he spoke to rescue teams from across the region.

Retired firefighter Jack Carter, of Long Island, made the trip down to Houston with the FDNY Dart team.

Carter told News 12 he is taking his experience from Sandy and bringing in to Texas to help victims.

Carter said rescue teams are helping with distribution, assessing the damage and helping to set up shelters.
