Police pursuit ends in crash in Yonkers; man arrestedPosted: Updated:
A police pursuit that began in Rockland County ended with a crash in Yonkers.
The sheriff's office had a warrant for a 24-year-old Rockland man's arrest on a violent felony. But the man allegedly fled when officers tried to pull him over in Nanuet.
Authorities say the man jumped on the state Thruway in a black Honda CR-V and was spotted by South Nyack officers while crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge into Westchester County.
Pursuing officers tried to end the chase as the driver got onto the Sprain Brook Parkway southbound, but he refused to stop. The chase continued onto the Sprain, but the driver collided with a South Nyack-Grand View patrol car while trying to get onto the Cross County Parkway westbound.
It's unclear whether any officers were injured in that crash. The suspect was quickly taken into custody as the scene was swarmed by authorities from both counties.
Charges are yet to be filed, but News 12 is told that they will likely be related to drugs and reckless driving.
News 12 is also told that another officer, a state trooper who was heading to the scene, suffered a minor injury in a separate crash on the Bronx River Parkway.
