Peekskill truckers to haul donations to Harvey victims

A Peekskill business is taking a hands-on approach to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Karl and Daryll Bjorkland are two brothers that own a trucking company in Peekskill, and they knew that they could use what they had to help move supplies.
Their company, K & D Industries, and its employees donated their time Saturday to collect supplies in a Mohegan Lake Walmart parking lot.
Once the truck is filled, the Bjorkland brothers will drive the supplies nearly 1,500 miles to a car dealership near Houston where materials will be distributed.
Since word of the plan got out, donations have flooded in, including a hefty cash donation of $1,000 from Peckham Industries.
The truck will depart for Texas on Thursday, and donations at 1006 Lower South St. in Peekskill are being accepted through Wednesday.
