MOUNT PLEASANT -

A Bronx man convicted of hitting a Mount Pleasant police officer with his car and dragging another will spend the next 15 years in prison.

Nathan Irizarry was sentenced in Westchester County Court Tuesday for hitting the officers during a traffic stop in November 2015.

Irizarry asked Judge Barbara Zambelli for compassion at his sentencing, but the judge imposed the maximum penalty for two felony counts of assault on a police officer.

The 39-year-old refused to pull over on Route 15, hit Officer Luke Oliveri and pinned Sgt. Mike McGuinn under the driver's door, dragging him about 50 feet.

Irizarry got away but was arrested a few months later.

He will serve his two 15-year sentences concurrently and faces five years’ post-release probation.

Irizarry's lawyer vows to appeal the sentence.
