Clinton slams Sanders in new book
Posted: Updated:Hillary Clinton is slamming Bernie Sanders in her new book.
Excerpts from her book entitled "What Happened" were released on social media yesterday, and Clinton came out swinging saying, "I am proud to be a Democrat and I wish Bernie were too."
The Chappaqua resident says that, during their Democratic primary battle, Sanders caused lasting damage in the 2016 presidential election. She says Sanders' assault on her character during the primary paved the way for President Donald Trump's victory “crooked Hillary" comments. "His attacks caused lasting damage, making it harder to unify progressives in the general election and paving the way for Trump's 'Crooked Hillary' campaign," wrote Clinton.
Clinton says her campaign staff, and then-President Obama, urged her not to criticize Sanders directly for the sake of party unity. "Throughout the primaries, every time I wanted to hit back against Bernie's attacks, I was told to restrain myself," writes Clinton.
"What Happened" is set to be released on Sept. 12.
