MOUNT VERNON -

A man is dead after being beaten and then run over by a car in Mount Vernon, police say.

The brutal killing unfolded Wednesday morning on East Third Avenue. News 12 is told that two men attacked 41-year-old Tremaine Williams outside his apartment.

Mount Vernon officials say the two men then got into a burgundy-colored Ford SUV, ran him over and drove off.

Police say Williams was found lying on the road and lifeless.

No arrests have been made, and no motive for the crime has been released.

Just feet away from Wednesday's attack, a memorial is still in place for rising basketball star Shamoya McKenzie, who was hit in the head by a bullet on New Year's Eve.
