Cheddar Morning Business Update 9/12: Mercedes-Benz to offer electric cars

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK - Lawmakers are demanding answers from Equifax about a massive breach that exposed the social security numbers and other personal information of roughly 143 million Americans.

Lawmakers say they also want to know if U.S. government agency records were compromised in the hack and a timeline of the breach.

Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz says it will offer electric versions of all its cars by 2022. The company also plans to turn its popular city SmartCar into a fully electric line by 2020.

Volvo also recently announced that all of its cars will be electric within two years.

Lastly, Nordstrom is opening a line of new, smaller stores that will not sell clothing or other items. Instead, it will offer services like manicures and tailoring.

The first Nordstrom local store opens next month in Los Angeles.
