Cop shooting suspect arraigned in hospitalPosted: Updated:
One of the two suspects involved in a shooting that injured a Yonkers officer was arraigned in the hospital today, according to authorities.
Police say that suspected gunman Frank Valencia was officially be charged with attempted murder in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon while recuperating at Westchester Medical Center.
Yonkers police report that Valencia, 18, of New Rochelle, shot Officer Kayla Maher in the face on Monday night during a shootout in the Park Hill section of the city. Valencia was hit by return fire and is recovering in the hospital.
Days before the shooting, a judge released the 18-year-old on probation for a gun charge.
The other suspect in the shootout, Jerry Reyes, 22, of New Rochelle, has already been charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
