Robots face off in Yonkers competitionPosted: Updated:
America's future engineers faced off in a robotics competition in Yonkers this weekend.
High schoolers from all over the Hudson Valley were at the Yonkers Police Athletic Center, competing for the top prize.
Fourteen teams built robots that are designed to solve a specific problem. "It takes a lot of engineering feat and skill for these high schoolers, and the whole purpose of it is to try and encourage high school students to pursue a STEM career – to go into science, technology, engineering, and math,” says participant Theodore Kim.
The event is part of a new initiative to include STEM education in community programs.
