MOUNT VERNON -

Authorities say a Mount Vernon man is under arrest for a string of livery cab robberies.

Joon H. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and other law enforcement officials say Allanmon Mavumkal, 30, has been charged with robbing at least 10 livery cabs in the Bronx, Mount Vernon and Yonkers.

They say Mavumkal robbed the cab drivers of cash, personal items, and their cabs at knifepoint.

Mavumkal faces up to 20 years in prison.
