NYACK -

A new center for people with disabilities is now open in Rockland County.

A special ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated The Arc of Rockland's new location on Church Street in Nyack on Tuesday. The community center serves as a home base for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Forty members will get the chance to participate in several activities within the village. "They really wanted to explore and live. Now, the classroom is the community, so they can go out and about and get to plan out their day," says The Arc of Rockland’s Carmine Marchionda.

The Arc of Rockland also has centers in Suffern, New City and Pearl River.
