Cheddar Afternoon Business Update 10/12: Facebook, SpaceX, Google

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says her company owes the American people an apology for "things that shouldn't have happened" on the site during the 2016 election.

Facebook unintentionally enabled Russian interference through ads on its platform. Sandberg made the comments during an Axios live event on Thursday.

SpaceX pulled off its 15th rocket launch of the year, sending a previously used Falcon 9 vessel carrying a communications satellite into space. It was the second launch for Elon Musk's company this week and the third time SpaceX has sent a used vessel into orbit. Reusing a spacecraft drastically cuts costs and could make Musk's goal of space travel more attainable.

And Google is issuing a permanent fix to its new Home Mini smart speaker. The virtual assistant was recording conversations without users knowing because the button on top of the device was faulty and activating on its own. Google tried a software update, but now says it is completely disabling the button to prevent any further privacy issues.
