Audit: 5 Lower Hudson Valley schools not adequately reporting bullying

Posted: Updated:
YONKERS -

According to a new audit by the state comptroller's office, five schools in the Lower Hudson Valley are not adequately reporting cases of bullying and harassment.

The audit, taken in accordance with the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), covered a five-year period starting in 2012.

The five schools include Ramapo High School in Rockland County, Newburgh Free Academy in Orange County, and Hommocks Middle School, Saunders Trades and Technical High School and Lincoln High School in Westchester County.

The Yonkers City School District released a statement saying they did in fact report incidents of bullying. The issue was just that their system wasn't set up for the particular DASA reports. A spokesperson says the district's new superintendent rectified the problem this past school year.

News 12 reached out to the other school districts, but has not heard back yet.
