Police chase, crash put schools on temporary lockoutPosted: Updated:
A police chase in Lewisboro that followed a traffic stop caused multiple schools to be put on lockdown Wednesday.
Police say the chase prompted the lockout at John Jay Middle and High Schools and Increase Miller Elementary School.
Parents told News 12 that the school sent out a robocall notifying them of the situation. Some parents say they waited over an hour to pick up their kids.
The district posted updates online, alerting parents that students not picked up would be kept at school until police gave the all-clear.
The chase ended at the intersection of Mead and Post Office roads in the Lake Waccabuc section of Lewisboro.
Police say the car crashed and the driver tried to flee the scene, but he was taken into custody. They say a passenger fled on foot and was still at large.
