Candidates for Rockland County executive debate in News 12 studiosPosted: Updated:
The candidates for Rockland County executive squared off in a debate in the News 12 studios Wednesday.
Republican incumbent Ed Day faced off against Democratic newcomer Maureen Porette.
The debate targeted a range of topics from economic development and taxes to the current opioid epidemic.
Porette said during the debate that $1.1 million is being given to not-for-profits in the county to handle the opioid issue, but the county itself has not contributed anything toward Narcan issues.
"The money is being spent internally, going to departments such as mental health and the Department of Social Services," Day replied.
The debate featured major party candidates. Thomas Sullivan is also running for Rockland County executive on the Conservative party line.
